Christiansburg Recreation Center willl offer Veteran's Cafe on Wednesday, September 5, and Wednesday, Deceember 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.  Please join us for a coffee social hour.  Sit, relax and share stories with fellow veterans.  Refreshments will be provided.  Co-sponsored with Carilion Clinic NRV Hospice "Level 4 We Honor Veterans participate"  Participants must pre-register at Christiansburg, Recreation Center.

Michele Dubel, MSOL, MHN, TRC author of treatment manual, "Stress Management: Learning to Live with Ourselves."  Michele has created a journey of empowerment to manage and reduce stress beginning with understanding the impact.  This four week course will give you the tools needed to reduce the stress level in your life.  Registration deadline is October 28, 2019.  Join us on Tuesdays November 5, 12, 19 & 26, 2019 at 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Montgomery County Government Center.  Fee: $15.00.

Dementia Friendly America

By 2025, the number of people aged 65 and older with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias is estimated to reach 7.1 million. Dementia Friendly America’s initiative is communities across the county are taking action to become dementia friendly by leveraging resources and partners across community sectors.

Radford Senior Center will offer a free Dementia Friendly America Training on Monday January 27, 2020 in multi-purpose rooms 3 and 4 at 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Con artists don't care about how hard you worked.  They steal billions from Americans like you every year.  We're fighting back with the AARP Fraud Watch Network. In this session, we will share an inside look at how scammers think, how to safeguard against identity theft and fraud, first hand accounts from victims, and what to do if you or some one you know has been a victim.

Second movie will begin at 1:00 p.m. with A Time to Dance starring Jennie Garth and Dan Payne. This is a bittersweet story of longtime couple John and Abby, whose separation is postponed when they find out their daughter is getting married. Determined not to spoil their daughter’s big moment, they secretly put their plans on hold only to have the wedding planning process draw them back together. Length: 85 minutes.

Rock Painting

Explore creativity and imagine what you can paint or write on a rock. Create your own pet rock, write a message for others to read. The emphasis is not on perfection but creativity and exploring your own techniques and creations. Rock Hunt

We have wonderful seniors that are happy, energetic and full of knowledge. We love them all! This rock hunt will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Shelter # 1 in Bisset Park. We will allow those who are slower a head start, walker, crutches will be allowed. Prune juice and water breaks may be provided, well... maybe just water. Paramedics are just a phone call away. If you are a rock painter and have hid your rocks in advance, we bet you already forgotten where you put them. If Pepto-Bismol is a necessity, it must be requested before the hunt begins. Some of our seniors are unique, but all are irreplaceable! We love each one of them….Proceed with caution.
