Communication Center

The Radford City Police Department is home to the Radford Emergency Communications Center (ECC). The ECC is the designated Primary Service Answering Point (PSAP) for 911 emergency calls.

Non-emergency calls for service within the city including Police, Fire, EMS and Public Works Services are also handled by ECC personal. The ECC is furnished with state of the art technologies in emergency communications enabling Communications Officers to accurately capture data and dispatch services to citizens while maintaining the current status of all emergency and non emergency personnel.

Staffing

The ECC is staffed by 8 state certified Communications Officers and 2 communications supervisors. Communications Officers are professionals trained to handle any type of emergency call; and handling multiple calls and responders simultaneously. As the initial first responder on all calls for service, you will receive courteous, knowledgeable and professional customer service to assist you when you need our help.

Our Communications Officers are members of Association of Professional Communications Officers and receive ongoing training through this international organization through online training certification courses and attending annual conferences as well as through state training opportunities.
