Enforcing parking regulations and insuring parking compliance is a major concern of the Radford City Police Department. Legal parking areas are limited making it a priority to see that time that regulations set forth by City Code are obeyed. Patrol personnel are responsible for enforcing the laws pertaining to illegally parked vehicles, over time parking, blocking of alleys and driveways, and parking on sidewalks.
Strict enforcement is also given in the areas of handicapped parking spaces. A handicapped tag or current placard must be displayed to be in compliance with these laws.
Parking permits are issued at no charge to residents who live on streets designated which have time controlled parking. Persons requesting a parking permit must complete the parking permit application (PDF); provide a copy of a current lease, vehicle registration and a photo ID in person at the Radford City Police Department Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Currently, permits are issued for the following city streets only:
E Main Street (Only 1113 and 1085)
Fairfax Street (excludes 703, 703, or 704)
Howe Street (excluding 704)
Pickett Street (including Municipal Lot)
Temporary permits may be issued for persons visiting residents in a timed zone area only and obtained by the resident who holds a permanent permit by completing the temporary permit application (PDF). Temporary permits are available during normal business hours and are valid for a maximum of 30 days and must be displayed at all times.
To pay a parking ticket you may take the ticket and payment to the Treasurers Office located at 619 2nd Street in Radford during normal business hours.
